Depending on the design and composition of the membrane, proteins in the solution may bind to the membrane during filtration. This can result in the loss of desirable proteins— such as media growth factors—in the sterile filtrate. All membranes used in Stericup® devices are engineered to reduce protein ‘sticking’. Due to the smaller membrane surface area of the filter the hold-up volume is minimized, ensuring little to no loss of precious media, buffers and reagents to the filtration process.
