CXCL11 is one of the most potent chemoattractants for activated T cells and is a key player in the regulation of the immune response. It is also known to attract monocytes, B cells, Th1 lymphocytes and NK cells. CXCL11 mediates its biological actions through binding to the CXCR3 and CXCR7 receptors. CXCL11 is highly expressed in blood leukocytes, pancreas, and liver tissues and is produced, to a lower extent, by the thymus, the spleen, and the lung.
